Jumping out of perfectly good planes

Jane's Sunshine Coast adventure day (4) I promise this is the last time I'll mention the Mayfiesta competition (you'll thank me if you win!), but it reminded me to tell you about Skydive Ramblers, which does fantastic tandem skydive jumps just outside Noosa.

You land on the sand at Coolum Beach, about 10 minutes south of Noosa, and if you get a clear day you can see the entire Sunshine Coast, right up to Fraser Island. I did a jump with them recently and it was absolutely awesome. You don't realise how many beaches, waterways and tracts of natural bushland Noosa has until you see it from up there.

Going overboard at The Ginger Factory

Ginger factory We took the kids to The Ginger Factory the other day and they had so much fun. We'd been before, but had only wandered around and ridden on the train (and sampled the ice cream from the on-site ice creamery, of course!)

This time we did the Overboard ride, which is rather kooky and had the kids absolutely mesmerised. It's hard to explain but it's basically an indoor boat ride that takes you 'around the world', with scene after scene from different countries and cultures. The scenes have mechanically-controlled puppets and a gingerbread man and two gingerbread chefs are incorporated into each scene, for the kids to spot. I mentioned that it's kooky, right? But the kids are still talking about it.

We also went to the new Superbee Live Bee Show, where you learn all about bees and how they make honey. I had no idea they were such clever creatures! And there was some seriously yummy honey to taste at the end.

Of course we had to have another ride on the train, an old sugar cane train that takes you around the ginger factory site. And I just had to have a spider - ginger beer poured over vanilla ice cream. Sooooooo good!

Come to Noosa in May

Ripe 2 In all my excitement about the Mayfiesta competition (a $10,000 trip to Noosa, in case you missed it), I failed to actually tell you anything about the event.

You've probably already gathered that Mayfiesta is a festival in May, but to give you a quick overview, the events include the Noosa Food & Wine Festival, the Australian Body Art Carnivale, the Noosa River Festival, the Noosa Winter Festival, the Noosa Wedding Expo and the music festival Ripe Noosa (pictured). Did you get all that?!

Throughout the month, you can also get 25 per cent off a range of accommodation, restaurants, day spas, tours and shopping, which is pretty cool.

For more information, go to www.mayfiesta.com.au. And don't forget to enter the competition!

Copy of taste_1.2 You heard it here first... so you have to share the prize with me if you win!

I've just seen the program for the Noosa Mayfiesta and they're giving away a $10,000 trip to Noosa, including flights, accommodation, tours, restaurant vouchers, spa treatments, cruises and all sorts of other stuff, along with $1000 spending money. How good does that sound?

To enter, go to www.mayfiesta.com.au, where you'll also find all the details of the prize. Obviously, you'll be wanting the flights and accommodation, but I'd be very happy to take the skydiving voucher and spa treatments off your hands!
