Noosa camping, love it

Kangaroo Noosa North Shore Noosa North Shore Thought I'd share a couple of pics from our weekend camping with friends on the Noosa North Shore. We spent the days swimming, surfing, boogie boarding and flying kites at the beach and the nights drinking red wine and listening to the waves rolling onto the sand... magic.

The weather was perfect and we even had a family of kangaroos drop in to say hello (kinda hard to put the tent up when there's a kangaroo sitting on it but isn't that a nice problem to have?).

If you're interested in a Noosa camping trip, the options include beach camping, caravan parks and national park campsites. You can camp right in Noosa or be setting up on the beach within half an hour of leaving town so it's easy to make a weekend of it.

Recommended: The Noosa Spa

I'm on a mission to test out every day spa in Noosa. All in the name of duty, of course.

It suddenly occurred to me that I have reviewed spas all over the world but haven't been to half the ones on my own doorstep, so I'm going to rectify that.

I started (for no particular reason) with The Noosa Spa of Health & Beauty, where I found a very intuitive and talented masssage therapist. I have heard people say that there is no such thing as a bad massage but I beg to differ - I've had some shockers!

This was one of the good ones and left me feeling much more balanced than I went in. And now that I've seen that they use Aveda products, I might go back and test out a facial as well.

The Noosa Spa is at the South Pacific Resort on Weyba Road in Noosaville. You don't have to be staying there to use the spa - just ring up and book.

Summer holidays

We've been making the most of living in Noosa by having a 'holiday at home'.

We've been to the cinema at Noosa Junction, eating out in child-friendly cafes and restaurants, riding our bikes along the foreshore of the Noosa River (it's amazing how far small people will ride when there's a playground at one end and an ice cream shop at the other!) and trying out the kids' new boogie boards at the beach.

Noosa's Main Beach, behind Hastings Street, is a godsend if you have kids or aren't keen on big surf. The beach is very sheltered and has nice gentle waves - perfectly matched to my boogie boarding ability.

The gentle waves also make Main Beach a great place to learn to surf. There is a surf school halfway down the beach that is run by former world champion Merrick Davis and caters for all levels, including complete beginners and kids from seven years old.

I went out for a lesson with them a while ago and had so much fun, I keep meaning to go back and do the three-day course that is supposed to put you at a level where you can grab a board and venture out on your own. I probably need the exercise after the Christmas scoffing season and if nothing else it ought to be good for a few laughs.

Being annoying, Act 2

Hrc_thespa_single_3 I might as well go ahead and tell you that I got to road-test the new $4.2 million spa at the Hyatt Regency Coolum a few weeks ago.

I had a body scrub, clay wrap and blissful hot stone massage, then spent the rest of the afternoon lazing around the resort in a dazed state.

You don't have to be staying at the resort to try out the spa - you can go as a day visitor. Just don't plan on doing anything afterwards!

Welcome
