Will Santa find me?

I spent last night trying to figure out how we are going to fit a small mountain of Xmas presents into two suitcases - and where on earth we are supposed to put our clothes!

I would love to be spending Christmas in Noosa but it is our turn to travel this year, so while thousands of people are flying into town, we will be flying out.

It's not too late to spend Christmas in Noosa (think seafood, swimming, sunshine) if you want to escape. Noosa accommodation is always heavily booked over the Christmas period but I'm hearing there are still a few rooms here and there.

Go to the official Noosa website for a booking engine with up to the minute availability for Noosa accommodation, or take a look at the video below to see the range of accommodation on offer, from backpacking to five-star.

The best Noosa restaurants

I've just seen the results of the restaurant awards for the 2009 Fairfax Media Good Food Guide.

Noosaville's River House Restaurant was one of only a handful of restaurants in South East Queensland awarded the highest honour, two hats (which makes it even more of a shame that we had to cancel our booking there a few weeks ago when my husband came down with the flu on our wedding anniversary!)

Recognised with one hat were Berardo's (Hastings Street), Rickys River Bar + Restaurant (Noosa Wharf), Spirit House (Yandina) and Wasabi (Sunshine Beach).

Wasabi has also picked up Best Asian Restaurant in Australia at the National Restaurant and Caterers Awards, which is a pretty big gong.

We're certainly not short of good restaurants here.

Retail therapy

Want to hear something really annoying?  I have finished my Christmas shopping.

Sad as it might be, I always do it in October. It is a habit I got into when I lived in the city, because I couldn't stand the crowds in December.

Even though you don't have to battle any crowds to shop in Noosa, I have stuck to my old ways and now I get to be smug about it. Sorry.

Thanks for dropping by.

I am new to the world of blogging, so please be gentle with me...
In return, I will do my best to give you some tips and ideas on what to do and see in Noosa, one of Australia’s most popular holiday destinations.
Why me? Well, I’m one of those annoying people with a dream job – I’m a travel writer. I get to travel around the world and try all the best things, so Tourism Noosa figured I might have some idea what I was talking about.
I live in Noosa, so consider this an insider’s guide, or an idea of how locals spend their time.
I moved here with my family a couple of years ago for the simple reason that I could think of nowhere I would rather live (and I reckon that’s a pretty good reason).
I am now on the board of Tourism Noosa and am learning new things about the place all the time, so please drop in regularly and see what I’m up to.
I’d also love to hear about your trip to Noosa – please post your comments.

Welcome
